What happens after I submit the contact form or send an email?

Cam Brown handles all new business conversations personally. You will not be routed through an intake process, a junior account team, or a capabilities presentation before speaking with a senior person. The first step is a direct conversation - typically thirty to sixty minutes - where we spend time understanding what you are working on, what you have already tried, and what success looks like from your perspective. From that conversation we determine whether the problem is the kind we are built to solve. If the fit is clear, we propose a scope. If it is not, we say so directly. We aim to respond to all new inquiries within one business day.

What should I have ready before reaching out?

Very little. The most useful thing you can bring to an initial conversation is a clear description of the problem you are trying to solve and why it matters to the business right now. You do not need a brief, a defined budget, a project timeline, or a list of deliverables - those emerge from the conversation, not before it. If you can describe what has changed in your business or market that is making the problem feel urgent, and what success would look like six to twelve months from now, that is enough to have a productive first conversation. The brief comes later. The problem comes first.

What size companies does KingFish + Partners typically work with?

KingFish + Partners works primarily with mid-market and growth-stage organizations - companies that are past early stage but have not yet built the internal marketing infrastructure to handle strategic challenges at the level they need. Typical engagements are with organizations generating between $10M and $500M in revenue, with a CEO, CMO, or VP of Marketing who is the primary decision-maker and who is personally invested in solving the problem. We have worked with larger organizations - New York Life, Keolis, Nasdaq, Nuance Healthcare - on specific programs where outside senior perspective added value. We do not have a minimum engagement size, but we are not the right fit for companies that need primarily execution capacity rather than strategic direction.

Does KingFish + Partners work with companies outside of New England?

Yes. KingFish + Partners is based in Beverly, Massachusetts and has a strong presence in the New England market - but client work spans nationally and includes organizations headquartered in New York, the Mid-Atlantic, the Southeast, and other regions. The nature of brand strategy, messaging, website, and content work does not require physical proximity. Most engagements involve a combination of video calls, collaborative working sessions, and periodic in-person meetings where the work benefits from them. If you are based outside of New England, that is not a reason to rule out a conversation.

These are the industries where we have the deepest track record, the most pattern recognition, and the most relevant prior work to draw on. We have done work in adjacent categories - education, consumer, hospitality - but the depth of expertise we bring to regulated and complex industries is a meaningful part of what makes our engagements effective. If your organization operates outside these four verticals, the honest answer is that we can have a conversation and tell you directly whether we think we can add the kind of value that makes an engagement worthwhile.

Engagement cost varies significantly depending on scope. A focused brand strategy and messaging engagement typically ranges from $25,000 to $60,000. A full brand and website engagement typically ranges from $60,000 to $150,000. Ongoing content programs are structured as monthly retainers typically ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 per month depending on volume and complexity. These are directional ranges - actual scope and pricing is always based on the specific problem and what it actually takes to solve it well. KingFish + Partners is not the least expensive option in the market. We are the right option when the problem is strategic, the decision-maker is senior, and the organization needs judgment alongside execution.

How quickly can KingFish + Partners start an engagement?

Typically within two to four weeks of a signed agreement. We do not maintain a deep queue of waiting engagements - when fit is established and scope is agreed, we move to start quickly. If you have a time-sensitive situation - a fundraising timeline, an acquisition, a product launch, or a rebrand that needs to move faster than that - tell us upfront. We have managed pre-transaction brand work in six weeks and have structured engagements to accommodate compressed timelines when the situation genuinely requires it. Speed is a variable we take seriously because we understand that the cost of delay in a business context is real.

Does KingFish + Partners take on project work or only ongoing retainers?

Both. KingFish + Partners takes on defined project engagements - a brand strategy and identity system, a website redesign, a campaign - as well as ongoing retainer relationships for content programs, campaign management, and continuous strategic advisory. Many client relationships begin as a defined project and evolve into an ongoing engagement as the organization's needs develop. We do not require a minimum retainer commitment to start a conversation, and we do not push clients toward retainer structures when a defined project is the right fit for their situation. The structure should match the problem, not the agency's revenue preference.
